Common questions

Start with a clearer picture.

The right answer depends on your shareholders, activities and operating plan. These are useful starting points.

Read all 20 FAQs
Can a foreigner own 100% of a Hainan company?

In many permitted sectors, a foreign investor can establish a wholly foreign-owned enterprise. The exact structure depends on the business scope and China’s current foreign-investment access rules.

How fast can a Hainan company be registered?

A business licence can be issued in as fast as 1–3 working days once the name, address, business scope and complete filing documents are accepted. Banking and post-registration steps take additional time.

Does every Hainan company pay 15% corporate income tax?

No. The company must meet the encouraged-industry and substantive-operation conditions. Registration in Hainan alone does not create automatic eligibility.

Do I need to travel to Hainan to start?

Much of the preparation can be coordinated remotely. A bank or specific authority may still request an in-person appearance depending on the shareholders and chosen institution.

What counts as substantive operation?

The test looks beyond a registered address. Real premises, staff, bookkeeping, banking, management and business activity in Hainan all matter to the overall evidence.
